Dear Powers That Be

Enough OK?

You have made several of my family members sick as dogs for months now. That’s quite enough of that.

And this nonsense that you have dumped on my friends… Not cool.
The two solid months of illness was bad enough, really. But loosing the house? That was a low blow. And now? Scary-assed looking bi-lateral tumors?

What the fuck?

No Love.
Me.

Twelve Years

Today is the twelfth anniversary of the Haggis and I getting married.

This weekend we spent in opulent indulgence.

A while back I won a one night accommodation for two at the Park Hyatt Hotel. It is one of the more lovely places that I have ever stayed. As we checked in to the room the Haggis mentioned that this was our wedding anniversary. We were given much congratulations by the front desk staff who tried to find us one of the nicer rooms in the hotel.

The room, while not large was very lovely and looked south on the city. Directly below us was the ROM.

We went up the roof top bar for a drink to kill time before our first planned excursion of the day. After our drink we headed out to Hammam Spa, for what has been the most amazing spa treatment I have ever had. We were brought to separate change rooms and met again in a waiting / tea room where two Massage therapists greeted us and brought us to a warm private room. There were side by side massage tables with warm heated blankets on them, soft dim lighting and a subtle smell of incense. In the background was the sound of pleasant new-age like Indian music. We had a wonderful massage and when it was over there was a hot tub for two and a small bottle of bubbly waiting for us to enjoy.

After the bubbly and bath we dressed in fluffy robes and wraps and headed in to the co-ed steam room.

The steam room was the most amazing thing. Very dim lighting, black stone tile, and so much steam you could not see from one end of the room to the other. Again there was the subtle smell of incense and soft sounds of dripping water and occasional hiss of more steam being pumped in to the room. Just outside the steam room was a small fridge with cold water and damp cool face cloths.

After our wonderful steam we went out for a lovely dinner. The food was fabulous, but the service was among the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The Haggis again mentioned to the maitre’ d that is was our anniversary and suddenly two glasses of champagne appeared, (on the house) The waiter was amazingly attentive, made a fantastic wine selection for us and then chatted us up about wines and was so enthusiastic about our conversation that he brought us some wine to sample (again at no charge) –Very nice stuff too.
We ordered dessert, a simple caramel flan. The waiter suggested another desert instead and we decided to go with his suggestion. He arrived with both his suggestion, and our original request. (his suggestion was no charge).

After our fantastic dinner we went back to the hotel. Waiting for us in the room was a gratis bottle of Champagne and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries.

A lovely way to spend our twelfth anniversary together.
